General RP Rules

1. Respect your fellow players. In Character (IC) circumstances don’t reflect Out Of Character (OOC) circumstances; don’t bring conflicts that are happening IC back OOC. We will not tolerate bullying or harassment in this community.
2. Don’t godmod or infomod. The only character(s) that you are allowed to control is/are your own. It’s very easy for Pokémon characters to be overpowered, especially in an experimental setting, but a good rule of thumb is don’t force actions on other characters. On the same note, don’t allow your characters to know things that they shouldn’t. If you play a character like Sabrina, who is a powerful psychic, it would be a good idea to put up a permission post for their powers.
3. Keep your roleplaying rated PG-13. Please keep threads featuring graphic violent and sexual content off of the community. Sensitive material should be marked with a warning and hidden underneath a cut. The code for using cuts on Dreamwidth can be found here.
4. Please wait two weeks after the release of a game in the United States to play new characters. This rule is in place to give people a chance to play the game before characters from it start showing up in-game.
5. Have fun! Remember, we’re all here to enjoy ourselves. There’s enough room for everyone in this sandbox.

Character rules

6. Only characters from or related to Pokémon are allowed within the community. poketesting is not open to characters from other canons. For example, you can't play Clark Kent aka Superman here--even if you've come up with an AU where he's the Champion of New York. Right now, the community is open to OU characters, AU characters and Pokemon OCs. This is how we define those terms:

Original Universe (OU) characters are characters straight from official Pokémon media, such as the games, anime and comics. An OU character can be any character that appears in the series, from a Battle Subway attendant to the Champion of a Region. An example of an OU character would be Ash Ketchum from the Pokémon anime.
Alternate Universe (AU) characters are characters from official Pokémon media with something different about them or their backstories. An example of an AU character would be a version of Bianca, from Pokémon Black or White, who became the Champion of Unova.
Original Characters (OC) are characters who were created by the player that fit into the setting of Pokémon. An example of an OC would be Francine, a young Lass from the Kanto Region who is scared of Spearow.
